Voiced by: Mitchel Musso and Zach Tyler Eisen
Personality
: Aang is a care-free, fun loving kid who is still quite immature and naive. He is very sensitive though and his only ugly side can be shown when his friends are endangered to may leave him. He has a very big heart and often tries to understand people's situations instead of fighting. He is very adventurous with a love to travel about but because of this he often finds himself side tracked.
aang1Past: Aang grew up in the Southern Air Temple but he often left to explore the rest of the world and meet such friends as Bumi and Kuzon. While at the temple though he was very close to a monk named Gyatso who was both his mentor and his friend. Aang had always been natural at airbending and at a young age he received the blue arrow on his head which represented his mastering of the art. Even though he was extremely skilled, he was taught by Gyatso that airbending can also be used for fun and games. Because of Gyatso's teachings Aang grew up to be a very creative and free spirited twelve-year-old who was always coming up with new ways to use his airbending for the sake of fun.
Even though Gyatso strongly was against it, Aang was told at this age that he was the incarnation of the Avatar and it was his duty to keep balance in the world. This was a very hard thing for Aang to handle at such a young age but Gyatso comforted him and continued to push the elders to allow Aang a simple childhood.
aang2Once the other airbending children of the temple learned that Aang was the avatar though they started to treat him differently and refused to let Aang play the games that even he had created because it would be unfair for whatever team we was not on. Gyatso became his only friend but that too was taken away from him. The elders decided that Aang needed to grow up for the purpose of saving the world and his childhood had to be compromised. In order for him to live a life free of distraction, the Monks decided to separate Aang and Gyatso by sending him to the Eastern Air Temple for the rest if his training. Aang was confused and upset and the only thing he could think of was to run away from home with is animal guide, Appa.
The night Aang left though was a terrible storm and he and Appa were through into the sea. Aang's Avatar state was awakened at that moment and he trapped himself in an ice sphere in order to save their lives.
Present: After 100 years Aang awoke from the ice and found Katara and Sokka in the North Pole. Aang then decided to leave with them to the North Pole in order for him and Katara to learn waterbending. Once Katara had mastered it they left to find an earthbending teacher, Toph, and Katara continued to train Aang in the arts of waterbending
